Born in 1920, Mr Ward was the lawyer, assisted by Mr M. J. N. Atwill, who represented the Bogle family during the Bogle-Chandler inquest.

He later became a Judge of the District Court of NSW and was Chairman of the Parole Board for five years.

He retired in 1997.
