Mr Orme was parked in the Fuller's Bridge area early on the morning of 1st January 1963. He was in a Volkswagon sedan. He had been there for some time when between 3:45am and 3:50am his car was involved in a slight collision. A small dark-coloured English car reversed into the near, rear side of his car. He and the driver of the other car did not exchange addresses.

Later, a car which could have been a Thames station wagon, having a rear portion like a Holden panel and with double windows, parked behind him. This car was light blue, a 1960 or 1961 model. Mr Orme then left.
