Name:   Geoffrey Keith Little

Role:   Called Police about discovery of Bogle's body

Status:   Unknown, presumed dead

Notes:

On the morning of 1 January 1963, Mr Little was at the kiosk on the north-west side of Fullers Bridge, on the Lane Cove River. The proprieter of the kiosk, he was approached by Michael McCormick and Dennis Wheway, who'd found Dr Bogle's body. McCormick asked him "what does it mean when a man's face turns blue?" Uncertain if he was joking or not, Mr Little replied "What do you mean?"

Mr Little accompanied McCormick and Wheway back to the spot where they'd seen Dr Bogle's body. Mr Little had been a soldier and had seen dead bodies before, so he knew at once that Dr Bogle was dead. From his experience dead bodies all looked much the same, except in this case there was a purple discolouration from the lips to the forehead, which he'd never seen before. He descibed the face as "waxen."

Mr Little then returned to the kiosk, where he rang Chatswood Police Station and told them about the body. Sergeant Arthur Andrews took this call at 10:10am.

Mr Little appeared at the inquest on 9 May, 1963. He confirmed the evidence that Michael McCormick and Dennis Wheway had already given, and also confirmed that Dr Bogle's clothes had been placed neatly over the body. He also told the inquest: "I did notice the eyes were closed and the skin seemed very tightly drawn over them. I did not get an impression of pain but of strain, of tension. The eyes seemed to be quite full behind the lids. I have seen other bodies but I have never really noticed that purplish discolouration."
